Job summary

The Boeing Company, at the Starfire Optical Range on Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, seeks an Optical Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to lead design, integration and testing of advanced optical and adaptive optics systems for Space Domain Awareness programs. The role requires 4+ years in optical design and familiarity with Zemax, Code V or OSLO.

Candidates must be eligible for U.S. security clearances; relocation assistance is not negotiable.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or related field (Electrical, Mechanical, Aeronautical, Computer Science, Math, Physics or related).
• 4+ years of optical design experience.
• 4+ years of experience with optical software Zemax, Code V or OSLO.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, fabrication and integration of high-precision optical systems.
• Establish and validate technical specifications for optical systems and components.
• Execute trade studies and simulations to optimize performance.
• Resolve complex optical challenges through engineering and analysis.
• Support project management with statements, budgets, schedules and status.
• Contribute to proposals to support new business development.
