Job summary

ASML in Wilton, CT is seeking a Senior Optical Engineer to design and develop advanced optical sensing solutions for next-generation lithography systems. You will work on wafer alignment sensors, build and align complex optical assemblies, and lead investigations to improve sensor performance.

The position requires a minimum of 4 years in optical engineering with experience in optical alignment, imaging systems, detectors, and data analysis using MATLAB and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in physics, applied physics, optical engineering, photonics, or related field.
• Master’s degree in physics, optics, photonics, or related discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in optical engineering or photonic system development.
• Experience with optical alignment, imaging systems, detectors, or lab testing environments.
• Experience with MATLAB and Python for data analysis.
• Laboratory automation, signal processing, or optical system modeling is beneficial.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop optical and photonic sensor systems for semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
• Build, align, test, and characterize complex optical systems and detector assemblies.
• Analyze performance data to identify issues and improve sensor functionality.
• Lead technical investigations to determine root causes and develop effective solutions.
• Develop and validate signal processing algorithms and experimental test plans.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, manufacturing, and system engineering teams.
