Job summary

ASML is seeking a Design Engineer: Optical Sensor System - Integrated Optics in Wilton, CT. The role combines optical design, photonic integration, simulation, testing and system validation in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to advance semiconductor manufacturing technologies.

The candidate will perform simulations, develop test software, and document experiments while translating requirements into practical engineering solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or PhD.
• Degree in Optical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience with integrated optics, photonic integrated circuits, or optical sensor systems.
• Experience using MATLAB, Lumerical, LabVIEW, KLayout, or related tools.
• Experience conducting optical testing, characterization, alignment, or lab-based experimentation.
• Experience translating technical requirements into practical engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and evaluate integrated optical and photonic sensor solutions.
• Perform optical simulations and analyze system performance data.
• Develop and maintain test software using MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar tools.
• Plan, execute, and document laboratory and system-level experiments.
• Investigate technical issues and identify root causes of performance challenges.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.
• Communicate technical findings and recommend design improvements.
