Job summary

Insight Global in Albuquerque seeks an Optical Engineer to support development of high-performance Directed Energy and Electro-Optical Systems. You will develop and validate requirements for complex EO sensors, lasers and telecom components, and define architectures to integrate them into higher level platforms.

The role involves modeling and analysis, critical testing, supplier management, and lifecycle support from manufacturing to customer use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering with focus on Electrical/Mechanical/Aeronautical or related field.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• Experience with Electro-Optics and EO systems requirements development and testing.
• Experience with Zemax and/or CodeV for EO design.
• Willingness to relocate to Albuquerque, NM.
• US Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
• Strong communication and collaboration across disciplines.
• Experience in fiber optic sensors and telecom products testing and integration.

Responsibilities

Job Description

We are seeking an Optical Engineer to support development of high performance Directed Energy Systems and Electro-Optical Systems.

This role will: Develops and validates requirements for various complex communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components. Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures. Develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms. Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements. Defines and conducts critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements. Manages appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements. Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues. Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews. Generates major sections of proposals to support development of new business. Works under minimal direction.

Skills and Requirements

• 5+ years minimum of related experience.
• Education or work experience in Electro-Optics.
• Experience with Electro Optical (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products).
• Experience in laser and electro-optical systems and optical communication systems requirements development, integration, testing and analysis.
• If not already within commuting distance of Albuquerque, NM, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry- U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
• Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
• Experience in electro-optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV or an equivalent software design package.
• Experience performing analysis on EO/IR systems.
