Job summary

Encode, Inc., a fully owned subsidiary of Lancesoft, seeks a senior engineer to develop and validate requirements for electro-optical, sensor, laser and other electromagnetic systems. You will define architectures, perform trade studies, modeling and simulations to optimize performance against requirements, and lead critical tests to validate designs.

U.S. Top Secret/SCI clearance is required and relocation to Albuquerque would be expected if not within commuting distance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related experience in electro-optical/EM systems.
• Experience in electro-optical system requirements development, integration and test.
• ABET-accredited engineering degree or equivalent qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validation of requirements for electro-optical systems, sensor, laser, and other electromagnetic systems and components.
• Develop architectures to integrate multiple systems into higher level systems and platforms.
• Perform trade studies, modeling, simulation, and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around complex requirements.
• Develop new and improved modeling and simulation techniques.
• Develop and implement critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements.
• Guide and support product lifecycle to resolve complex issues.
• Manage supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements.
• Support project management by providing coordination of statements of work, budgets, schedules and reviews.
• Generate major sections of large-scale proposals to support development of new business.
• Perform some work in a clean room environment.

Develops and validates electromagnetic requirements for electrical\electronic systems, mechanical systems, interconnects and structures. Develops architectures to integrate complex systems and components into higher level systems and platforms. Performs complicated trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict component, interconnects and system performance and to optimize design around established requirements. Defines and conducts critical tests of various kinds to validate performance of designs to requirements. Manages appropriate aspects of critical supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements. Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle from manufacturing to customer use by providing guidance and support to resolve complex issues. Supports project management by providing coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews. Generates major sections of proposals to support development of new business. Works under minimal direction.

U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. This position is expected to be fully on site in Albuquerque, NM.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

• 5+ years minimum of related experience.
• Education or work experience in Electro-Optics.
• Experience with Electro Optical (ex: producing specifications, tolerances, simulations, assembly, integration and test of fiber optic (F/O) sensors, systems and components, including sensors, lasers, fiber-optics, and telecommunications products).
• Experience in laser and electro-optical systems and optical communication systems requirements development, integration, testing and analysis.
• If not already within commuting distance of Albuquerque, NM, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)

• Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
• Experience in electro-optical design and analysis using Zemax, CodeV or an equivalent software design package.
• Experience performing analysis on EO/IR systems.
• Education / Experience: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years'experience, Master's with 7 or more years'experience or PhD with 4 or more years'experience.
• Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
• ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
