VIAVI Solutions is seeking an experienced Optical Coatings Engineer in Santa Rosa, CA to design and implement optical interference filters and coatings for diverse applications, from consumer electronics to aerospace. The role involves materials development, vacuum coating processes, and close collaboration with customers to meet specifications. Candidates should have a B.S.

in a relevant field, 5+ years of experience, and strong Excel/Office skills. US person required per ITAR.

Qualifications

• Minimum B.S. in Material Science, Physical, Electrical, or Optical Engineering or related field.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interaction skills.
• Analytical thinker; detail oriented; problem solver.
• Proficient with computers: strong proficiency with MS Excel and Office
• Experience in Thin Film Deposition, vacuum processes, and optics
• At least 5 years of experience
• Must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR.

Responsabilités

• Design and implement optical interference filters meeting customer requirements across diverse applications.
• Develop and/or improve materials and processes for manufacturing of optical coatings.
• The assignment encompasses optical coating design, substrate preparation, and vacuum-based coating processes.
• Improve understanding of interaction between different coating materials.
• Interact with customers to understand requirements and deliver coatings meeting needs promptly.
