VIAVI Solutions Inc. in Santa Rosa, CA is seeking a Product Development Engineer to own optical thin film coating design, quotation, and manufacturing readiness, interfacing with customers, AE, and manufacturing engineering.

You will lead product analysis, production readiness, and transfer of new products to manufacturing while driving continuous improvements. Occasional night support and after-hour calls may be required in 24/7 production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics or related technical discipline.
• Three to five years of experience in manufacturing setting.
• Understanding of design and evaluation of optical coatings.
• Knowledgeable in Metrology techniques and equipment desired.
• Ability to work under pressure and deal with demanding customers.
• Excellent communication skills interfacing with internal and external customers.
• Proficiency in Statistical Process Control.
• Bias for action.

The person in this position is the technical interface with the customer, manufacturing engineering, and production floor supporting product realization as a critical part of the operations team.This individual will be part of the team at Viavi Solutions to identify requirements, establish specifications and respond to inquiries pertaining to optical filters.
