Job summary

Xcel Energy in Colorado is seeking an Operations Planner Team Lead to guide scheduling, readiness, and coordination across regions. You will oversee rolling 0–12+ week schedules, optimize resources, ensure safety compliance, and drive performance in a demanding utility environment.

You will mentor and develop planners, partner with field operations, design, and external stakeholders to sustain high operational standards and customer focus, while managing costs and schedule adherence.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 8 years of experience in construction, design, maintenance, or operations, with 3 years in a senior planning role.
• Demonstrated mastery in scheduling, planning, and operational coordination within utility or construction industries.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and manage complex work activities to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with cross-team collaboration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to retrieve/manipulate data from reporting tools.
• Knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft products, work management, mapping, and scheduling tools.
• Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

• Strategic Scheduling & Planning: oversee rolling 0–12+ week schedule and optimize resources.
• Operational Readiness & Coordination: ensure prerequisites and coordinate materials and third-party services.
• Leadership & Mentorship: mentor planners and provide guidance on scheduling practices.
• Resource Management & Optimization: forecast personnel and equipment needs and minimize costs.
• Performance Analysis & Continuous Improvement: analyze performance and lead process changes.
• Stakeholder Engagement & Customer Focus: partner with supervisors, field leaders, and external stakeholders.
• Accountability for Results: ensure timely job closeout, documentation, and safety/compliance.
• All other duties as assigned.
