Job summary

Peraton in the United States is seeking a Platform Engineer to stand up a bare-metal OpenShift platform, implement IaC with Terraform and Ansible, and reduce manual installs. The role supports OCONUS bootstrap activities and requires US Citizenship and a DoD clearance.

The position offers occasional telework with a requirement to be within 50 miles of listed work locations; candidates must be able to access a DISA SIPR facility.

Qualifications

• Minimum general work experience of 12 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 10 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 7 years with Ph.D.
• 5+ years of platform/systems engineering experience with hands-on Kubernetes-based container platform experience.
• US Citizenship
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification
• Hands-on experience deploying and administering OpenShift on bare metal
• Infrastructure-as-code proficiency, specifically Terraform and Ansible
• Working knowledge of virtualization/cloud orchestration platforms (Spectro Cloud, VMware)
• Understanding of container platform architecture: networking, storage, cluster security, lifecycle management
• Ability to document platform architecture and licensing tradeoffs
• Strong Linux administration skills (RHEL)
• Must have regular/recurring physical access to a DISA SIPR-accredited facility

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and operate bare-metal OpenShift clusters
• Design and implement IaC provisioning with Terraform and Ansible
• Support feasibility assessment of OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud
• Manage OpenShift cluster lifecycle
• Deploy and support core platform services including DNS (PowerDNS)
• Implement and enforce STIGs and cybersecurity requirements
• Monitor platform health and capacity with observability tools
• Support OCONUS hardware bootstrap activities
• Document platform architecture and procedures
• Transition provisioning to fully IaC-managed model
• Collaborate with security and system engineering teams
