Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to stand up and operate a bare-metal OpenShift container platform across multiple US locations, including Chambersburg, PA. The role emphasizes IaC, Terraform, and Ansible, with a path toward automated provisioning.

You will design, deploy, and manage platform services, ensure security with STIGs, and support OCONUS bootstrap activities, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

Minimum 12 years of general work experience with BS/BA; 10 years with MS/MA; 7 years with Ph.D.
5+ years platform/systems engineering with hands-on Kubernetes-based container platforms.
US Citizenship
Active DoD Secret clearance
DoD 8570/8140 compliant certification
Hands-on OpenShift/bare-metal admin experience
IaC proficiency with Terraform and Ansible
Experience with virtualization/cloud orchestration (Spectro Cloud/VMware)
Strong Linux administration (RHEL)
Regular access to a DISA SIPR-accredited facility

Responsibilities

Install, configure, and operate bare-metal OpenShift clusters.
Design IaC provisioning using Terraform and Ansible for platform and VM orchestration.
Evaluate OpenShift vs Spectro Cloud and document tradeoffs.
Manage OpenShift lifecycle: install, upgrades, patching, scaling, day-2 ops.
Deploy core platform services like PowerDNS.
Enforce STIGs and cybersecurity controls on platform infrastructure.
Monitor platform health, performance, and capacity with observability tools.
Document architecture, decisions, and procedures.
Transition provisioning to an IaC-managed model.
