First Citizens Bank is seeking a Senior OpenShift Platform Engineer to manage OpenShift and Kubernetes workloads across remote U.S. markets. You will administer Linux servers, implement IaC (Terraform, Ansible, Helm), and support CI/CD integrations while ensuring security, RBAC, and incident response readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 4 years of cloud engineering experience OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of cloud engineering experience
• 5+ years of systems engineering or infrastructure administration experience
• 3+ years of hands‑on OpenShift and Kubernetes administration experience
• Experience supporting production container platforms in enterprise environments
• Strong Linux system administration background

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and support Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters
• Perform cluster lifecycle management, including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and capacity planning
• Monitor cluster health, performance, and resource utilization
• Manage OpenShift components including worker nodes, control plane, operators, ingress, routes, namespaces, and storage
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related incidents and service disruptions
• Support Kubernetes workloads on OpenShift clusters
• Configure deployments, services, ingress, networking, and storage
• Monitor containerized applications and platform services
• Analyze and resolve pod, node, networking, and storage issues
• Implement workload optimization and resource management best practices
• Administer and support Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers
• Provision, patch, harden, and tune servers
• Monitor OS health and security compliance
• Support virtualization and infrastructure hosting OpenShift
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Git
• Automate routine tasks and CI/CD integrations
• Assist development teams with onboarding and deployments
• Implement security controls, RBAC, and certificate lifecycle management
• Collaborate with security teams for enterprise standards
• Monitor platform availability with enterprise tools
• Configure alerts, dashboards, on-call and incident response
• Maintain runbooks and technical documentation
• Support Terraform, Helm, Git, Bash/Python scripting
