Job summary

First Citizens Bank is seeking a Systems Engineer III to serve as the OpenShift/Kubernetes platform administrator. This remote role supports multiple markets across the United States and focuses on building, automating, and maintaining enterprise OpenShift clusters.

You will implement cluster lifecycle management, automate infrastructure tasks with Terraform, Ansible, Helm and Git, and collaborate with security, networking, and development teams to deliver scalable, secure container platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 4+ years in cloud engineering OR HS + 8+ years in cloud engineering
• 5+ years of systems engineering or infrastructure administration
• 3+ years of hands-on OpenShift and Kubernetes administration
• Experience supporting production container platforms in enterprise environments
• Strong Linux system administration background

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and support Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) clusters
• Perform cluster lifecycle management including upgrades, patching, maintenance, and capacity planning
• Monitor cluster health, performance, and resource utilization
• Manage OpenShift components including workers, control plane, operators, ingress, routes, namespaces, and storage
• Troubleshoot and resolve platform-related incidents and service disruptions
• Support Kubernetes workloads and deployments on OpenShift clusters
• Develop and maintain IaC and automation scripts (Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Git)
• Collaborate with security, networking, and application teams to ensure reliability and compliance
