Job summary

Nevada Gold Mines is seeking a Senior Surface Mining Engineer to drive technical integrity and long-term planning for open pit operations in Elko, NV. This hybrid role oversees mine design, schedules, cost estimation, and growth roadmaps to support the Life of Mine plan.

The position requires strong leadership, deep mine operations knowledge, and proven ability to manage large-scale projects across multiple sites, with a commitment to safety and sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering required.
• 5-8 years of experience in open pit engineering, with strong background in mine planning, design, and project management.
• Excellent safety record and safety leadership demonstrated.
• Deep understanding of mine operations and design principles, with strong background in LOM planning and infrastructure management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects and lead cross-functional teams to achieve strategic business objectives.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
• Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Technical Excellence: oversee forecasts and Life of Mine (LOM) plans with technical rigor.
• Develop and Manage LOM Technical Roadmap: identify gaps and align studies with the LOM plan.
• Drive Growth Projects: lead technical initiatives for LOM growth projects with cross-functional teamwork.
• Best Practice Implementation: implement innovative technical improvements and share best practices across sites.
• Utilize SME Resources: engage subject matter experts for complex challenges and performance.
• Other duties as assigned.
