Placements24 is seeking a Senior Medical Researcher specializing in Oncology to join our Upington campus in the Northern Cape, ZA. You will lead independent oncology projects, design and execute experiments, and collaborate with clinicians to translate discoveries into clinical applications.

The role requires a Ph.D. with 7+ years post-doctoral oncology experience, strong publication history, and proven grant success.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Medicine, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology, or related biomedical science field.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in oncology.
• Proven expertise in cancer biology with sub-specialty focus.
• Proven ability to secure competitive grant funding (e.g., NIH).
• Experience with CRISPR, NGS, flow cytometry, and Western blotting.
• Excellent publication record and strong communication skills.
• Leadership and mentoring capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent research projects in oncology, focusing on cancer biology and translational aims.
• Design and conduct experiments using molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
• Analyze complex data, interpret results, and contribute to publications.
• Secure external funding through grant applications to support research.
• Collaborate with clinical teams for translational research and trials.
• Mentor postdocs, grad students, and technicians.
• Present findings at conferences and stay current with oncology advances.
• Manage lab operations, budget, and resource allocation.
• Contribute to strategic planning of the oncology program.
