Job summary

AstraZeneca is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the Houston area to serve as a trusted scientific advisor to healthcare professionals and internal teams. The role requires synthesizing insights, guiding scientific narratives, and leading clinical trial and research activities across therapeutic areas.

You will collaborate with Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Development teams, drive guideline sharing, and mentor colleagues while traveling domestically (40–60%).

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in a health science field (e.g., PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA, NP or BSN with clinical experience).
• 2 years MSL or related therapeutic experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to convey science to internal/external customers.
• Ability to work independently and within a matrix environment.
• Demonstrated leadership, initiative and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Establishes oneself as a trusted scientific advisor to internal collaborators and external HCPs.
• Synthesizes HCP insights from regional segments and communicates them internally.
• Integrates science into business strategies, training, and resources.
• Drives guideline sharing and applies them to Field Medical Affairs processes.
• Leads MSL-related trials, research activities, and special projects.
• Coaches team members to develop strong external relationships across academia, hospitals, and private practice.
