Job summary

Texas Oncology in McAllen, TX is hiring a Pharmacy/Admixture Tech to support admixture room operations and pharmacy services. The role involves compounding, verifying orders, IV drug preparation, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory guidelines.

Experience with IV skills and oncology medications is preferred. Level 1–Sr roles are available based on experience, with a Monday–Friday 8:00am–5:00pm schedule.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Entry level to three years experience in a pharmacy.
• Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• IV certification preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
• Minimum five to seven years of experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing under supervision.
• Check orders for completeness and verify patient information and physician authorization.
• Admix drugs as ordered, following guidelines and safety rules.
• Calculate dosage volumes and convert between metric and apothecary units.
• Assist in controlled substance record keeping per regulations.
• Dispose of materials used in chemo/non-chemo IVs per guidelines.
• Clean hoods daily and monitor drug stock and expiration dates.
• Maintain temperature logs and protocol/patient-assistance logs.
• Manage inventory with lot numbers and expirations.
• Support label prep, data entry, pre-billing review, and supply orders.
• Assist cleaning and maintenance of the admixture area per USP standards.
