Job summary

Texas Oncology seeks a Pharmacy/Admixture Technician to support the New Braunfels location. Under supervision by a physician or pharmacist, you will perform compounding, admixture, and medication preparation duties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with guidelines.

The role requires extensive IV preparation experience, strong attention to detail, and familiarity with inventory, documentation, and quality checks in a clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Entry level to three years experience in a pharmacy.
• Minimum three to five years experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• IV certification preferred.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
• Minimum five to seven years of experience in a pharmacy with IV skills.
• Oncology background preferred or extensive IV preparation experience.
• ASCP accredited program or community college-based program recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing under supervision.
• Check all orders for completeness and verify patient information and proper physician authorization.
• Admix drugs as ordered by a physician in an accurate and timely manner per guidelines.
• Calculate correct dosage volumes and convert units.
• Assist in controlled substance record keeping per regulations.
• Dispose of materials used in mixing per guidelines and law.
• Maintain temperature logs and QA activities.
• Manage inventory including lot numbers and expiration dating.
• Support medication use continuum including label prep and data entry.
• Assist with cleaning and maintenance of admixture area and pharmacy.
