Job summary

MindSource is seeking a Senior Database Engineer to design, deploy, and optimize MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases on bare‑metal infrastructure. You will own the end‑to‑end database architecture, including replication, clustering, and recovery strategies, and work across teams to ensure reliability and performance.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of hands‑on experience managing on‑prem databases, deep internals knowledge, and a proven track record in HA/DR, backups, monitoring, and automation

Qualifications

• 7+ years hands‑on experience managing MariaDB and PostgreSQL in on‑prem/bare metal environments.
• Deep understanding of database internals, replication models, WAL/redo logs, and recovery.
• Strong troubleshooting skills under complex failure conditions.
• Proven experience implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
• Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and storage engine management.
• Proficiency with Linux‑based systems administration.
• Familiarity with configuration management or automation tools (Ansible, Terraform, Bash/Python).

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain MariaDB and PostgreSQL databases in bare metal and on‑premise environments.
• Own end‑to‑end database architecture, including replication, clustering, failover, and recovery strategies.
• Analyze and document potential failure scenarios and build robust mitigation plans.
• Perform deep‑dive troubleshooting for performance bottlenecks, corruption issues, and replication delays.
• Manage schema design, indexing strategy, and query optimization for high‑performance workloads.
• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to ensure database scalability and fault tolerance.
• Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring solutions.
• Contribute to database automation (deployment, upgrades, patching) via scripts or configuration tools.
