Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Senior Staff Therapist, Occupational Therapist III, reporting to Clinical Supervisor, Occupational Therapy. The role involves direct and indirect patient care for adults, geriatrics, with potential pediatric cases, across multiple UCSF Medical Center locations.

The incumbent provides expert assessments, develops and implements therapy plans, mentors staff, and participates in performance improvement activities. Requires licensure in California and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of general patient care, with at least 1 year in acute care within the past 5 years.
• At least 40 hours of professional development, 50% CEUs or relevant coursework; rest mentoring/grand rounds/reading.
• Experience as a clinical preceptor and teaching a variety of audiences.
• Ability to meet the clinical caseload requirements of a staff-level therapist.
• Work a minimum of 32 hours and 4 days per week.
• Strong English communication skills, written and oral.
• CPR certification and basic computer skills.
• Ability to mentor professional behaviors and self-initiation.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex patient evaluations and therapeutic interventions under supervision.
• Mentor staff and consult with other medical professionals on evaluations and planning.
• Supervise support personnel in line with state practice acts (COTAs, aides, students).
• Participate in performance improvement, clinical education programs and staff development.
