Job summary

UCSF Health is seeking a Senior Staff Therapist, Occupational Therapist III, to provide direct and indirect patient care across adult and geriatric populations. The role involves evaluating patients, formulating treatment plans, mentoring staff, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team in a busy academic medical center setting.

The Senior Therapist will supervise assistants and students, participate in performance improvement activities, and contribute to education programs.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor professional behaviors, including interpersonal skills, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation.
• Basic computer skills, including word processing and online communication.
• Possession of licensure as an Occupational Therapist by the Occupational Therapy Board of California is required.

Responsibilities

• Performs occupational therapy evaluations and administers tests to determine functional and psychosocial limitations.
• Establishes short and long term therapeutic goals in consultation with referring practitioner.
• Develops and modifies intervention plans based on evaluation results and patient progress.
• Delivers direct patient care and utilizes full range of occupational therapy techniques.
• Supervises necessary support staff involved in a patient’s intervention.
• Completes discharge planning and maintains accurate patient records.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff; presents progress at rounds and case conferences.
