Job summary

Austin Animal Services is seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist Sr to develop and implement the Animal Services Safety Program at the Austin Animal Center. The role includes delivering safety training, conducting risk assessments, and managing incident investigations.

Responsibilities include writing safety policies, coordinating drills, and ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and Local safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 2 years of experience; substitution allowed for education up to 4 years.

Responsibilities

• Develops, administers, and implements the departmental safety program.
• Inspects areas, equipment, and processes for hazardous conditions and develops standards to ensure compliance.
• Conducts safety meetings and prepares training materials and documentation.
• Investigates work-related accidents and incidents; administers corrective action plans.
• Coordinates safety drills, new employee orientation, and safety policy development.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams and maintains OSHA regulation knowledge.
