Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive occupational and preventive healthcare to APL staff, in collaboration with the Medical Director and MRO. The role spans clinical evaluation, case management, and program oversight within the Environmental Health & Safety Group.

The NP will conduct DOT exams, manage injuries, oversee surveillance programs, and support accommodations and return-to-work decisions.

Qualifications

• Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Active Maryland APRN license (or Compact) and national NP certification.
• FMCSA National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners certification.
• 5+ years of clinical practice in Occupational Health, Emergency Medicine, or related field.
• Experience in occupational injury evaluation, treatment, and case management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive occupational health evaluations including DOT exams and pre-placement assessments.
• Diagnose and manage work-related injuries and illnesses with urgent and episodic care.
• Prescribe medications and coordinate specialty referrals.
• Oversee return-to-work and work restriction plans.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA and occupational health regulations.
