Job summary
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) within the Environmental Health & Safety Group seeks an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide comprehensive occupational and preventive healthcare services to APL staff. You will conduct DOT exams, manage work-related injuries, prescribe medications, and collaborate with the Medical Director, MRO, and nursing team.
Required are an NP degree, Maryland APRN license, FMCSA certification, and 5+ years in Occupational Health or related
Qualifications
- Master's or Doctoral NP degree from an accredited program.
- Active Maryland APRN license (or Compact) and national NP certification.
- FMCSA Medical Examiner certification; able to obtain security clearance.
- 5+ years of clinical practice in Occupational Health or related fields.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations, workers' comp, and fitness-for-duty principles.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational health evaluations including DOT exams.
- Diagnose and manage work injuries; provide urgent/episodic care.
- Prescribe medications and coordinate specialty referrals.
- Interpret lab tests, EKGs, pulmonary function tests, audiograms.
- Develop return-to-work plans and accommodations; manage WC cases.
- Lead preventive health initiatives and health surveillance programs.
- Ensure OSHA/HIPAA compliance and maintain medical documentation.
