Job summary

Park Valley Inn Health Center in Round Rock, TX is seeking an experienced Nutrition Services leader for the Skilled Nursing unit. This role focuses on establishing standards for purchasing, storing, and preparing food, and ensuring safety and sanitation in line with government regulations.

In collaboration with the Registered Dietitian, you will monitor patients’ nutritional status, supervise staff, plan budgets, and adapt master menus to facility preferences.

Qualifications

• CDM or Certified Food Service Manager certification.
• Minimum of one year experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English with knowledge of arithmetic and units of measurement used in food preparation.
• Ability to cook/prepare food preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains standards for purchasing, storing and preparation of food.
• Maintains procedures to meet safety and sanitation standards to assure compliance with government regulations.
• Plans and administers departmental budget.
• Plans and directs staffing schedule and assignments to ensure effective food service.
• Monitors nutritional status of patients with Registered Dietitian through assessments and care planning.
• Represents Nutrition Services at staff meetings and communicates administrative information to staff.
• Adapts master menu cycle to facility preferences with Registered Dietitian.
• Purchases or requisitions food supplies based on menu and budget.
• Supervises receiving and storing of food.
• Monitors all temperatures per local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintains and issues a file of standardized recipes adjusted to the proper yield.
• Prepares and audits tray tickets as needed.
• In-services Nutrition Services staff regularly.
• Prepares and submits financial reports as required.
• Coordinates catering as necessary.
• Attends patient care plan meetings and participates in team leadership.
