Job summary

Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to contribute to the design and modification of nuclear power plant systems. You will prepare or review modification packages, create functional drawings, and perform analyses to support operation and safety.

The role involves developing cost estimates, interfacing with clients at sites, leading project teams, and contributing to technical specifications and procurement documents.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in the power industry.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.
• PE license is beneficial, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Modify packages for operating nuclear power plants.
• Prepare functional mechanical drawings and/or drawings for nuclear power plant systems.
• Perform engineering analyses and evaluations to support modifications and operation of plant systems.
• Prepare procurement documents and technical specifications for plant equipment.
• Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
• Study options evaluations for modifications to operating nuclear power plants.
• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client-work scopes.
• Visit client office and/or plant site locations to interface with the client and make presentations related to engineering tasks and status.
• Lead engineering project teams.
