Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking an experienced engineer for a nuclear power design role in Chicago with a hybrid work model—three days in the office and two remote days.

The role requires a BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and at least 10 years in the power industry, with strong knowledge of nuclear codes, standards, and regulations. PE is a plus but not required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET accredited program with thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer coursework.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the power industry.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations for mechanical engineering design of nuclear power plants.
• PE license is beneficial, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Modify operating nuclear power plant packages.
• Prepare/review functional mechanical drawings for nuclear plant systems.
• Perform engineering analyses to support plant modifications and operation.
• Prepare technical specs and procurement documents for plant equipment.
• Evaluate vendor bids for plant equipment.
• Study and evaluate modification options for operating plants.
• Develop engineering cost estimates for small to mid-sized client work scopes.
• Interface with client at office/site locations and present engineering status.
• Lead engineering project teams.
