Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, Tennessee is seeking a Project Engineer, Nuclear Facilities to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex. This full-time role is based in Oak Ridge and focuses on coordinating multi-discipline engineering activities for complex plant initiatives.

The role requires a ABET-accredited engineering degree with 10+ years of experience, U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain a government clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field from ABET-accredited institution
• 10+ years of relevant engineering/project engineering experience
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government clearance if required
• Experience planning, design, implementation, and technical coordination
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
• Ability to manage project scopes, budgets, and schedules
• Experience with equipment/machine tool installations or infrastructure upgrades
• Knowledge of ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Quality Assurance and its application

Responsibilities

• Provide project engineering support and coordination for commercial, infrastructure, modernization, and stockpile projects.
• Plan, design, procure, and implement new machine tools, production equipment, and upgrades.
• Provide technical integration, leadership, and direction to multidisciplinary teams.
• Plan and direct engineering activities from scope development through implementation.
• Develop and maintain detailed design scopes, budgets, schedules, and technical requirements.
• Apply ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Quality Assurance to activities in nuclear facilities.
• Coordinate engineering activities with Production, Maintenance, Project Management, Construction, Startup, and Project Controls.
• Integrate internal and external resources to meet objectives and schedules.
• Monitor progress against schedules, budgets, and milestones; implement corrective actions.
• Identify and resolve technical, design, and coordination issues impacting execution.
• Provide engineering leadership for complex, high-priority, time-sensitive initiatives.
• Ensure deliverables meet technical, quality, safety, and project requirements.
