Job summary

X Energy, LLC in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a Construction Project Engineer III to lead the full lifecycle of nuclear facility construction projects, bridging electrical/I&C design and field work. You will translate design intent into CWPs, uphold HS&E standards, and coordinate with managers, superintendents, and external consultants.

The role requires 5+ years in heavy construction or nuclear engineering, strong communication, and travel willingness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering, Civil, Mechanical, Nuclear, or Chemical Engineering.
• Typically, 5+ years of experience in heavy construction or nuclear engineering.
• Industry knowledge of DOE/NRC or commercial nuclear standards is beneficial.
• Strong communication, risk management, and the ability to interpret complex drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Engineering Coordination: translate design drawings into Construction Work Packages for field personnel.
• Safety & Compliance: ensure HS&E guidance and regulatory codes are followed on site.
• Material & Quantity Control: oversee receipt, inspection, storage, and weekly quantity tracking.
• Issue Resolution: manage NCRs and field changes, perform trend analyses to mitigate risks.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: liaise between superintendents, design consultants, project controls, and client.
• System Turnover: coordinate with Startup team for handover of completed systems.
• Mentor juniors and perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager/Director.
