Job summary

AIDS Foundation Chicago seeks a Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations here in Chicago. You will ensure GAAP compliance, manage the general ledger, payroll, AP/AR, and cash management while coordinating audits and regulatory filings.

The role requires senior-level nonprofit accounting experience, strong leadership, and the ability to develop staff and improve processes to support AFC's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience.
• Experience in nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, and grant management.

Responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations including GL, AP, AR, payroll posting, fixed assets, and cash management.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Oversee audits and regulatory compliance activities; coordinate with external auditors.
