Job summary

The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in Chicago seeks a Controller to lead the Office of Finance, directing accounting, payroll, budget, and internal controls for a $7 billion organization.

Qualifications

• MBA or MA in accounting preferred; CPA/CMA essential.
• Fifteen or more years of related work experience.
• Background supervising a finance/accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting direction and strategy for the Foundation.
• Oversee payroll, tax filings, and financial reporting.
• Manage audits and external reporting.
• Maintain internal controls and business continuity.
• Develop staffing structure and performance management.
• Collaborate with CFO and Audit Committee.
