Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Staff Software Engineer (NodeJS) to join a critical project for a leading advisory firm. You will design, develop, and maintain large-scale financial reporting systems, focusing on backend Node.js with modern React frontend support in a microservices architecture.

The role emphasizes building scalable REST APIs, database migrations in production, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Strong experience with Node.js, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS is expected.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of Node.js development (Node 18+; Node 22 preferred).
• 4+ years of microservices architecture experience in distributed systems.
• 3+ years of PostgreSQL or relational database experience, including advanced SQL and schema design.
• Experience building REST APIs using Node.js frameworks (Koa/Express).
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using Node.js and frameworks (Koa/Express).
• Build and support distributed microservices focused on scalability and reliability.
• Own and support production systems with troubleshooting and debugging.
• Develop and optimize PostgreSQL schemas and queries; manage migrations.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers to support React-based interfaces.
• Write clean, tested code following best practices.
• Utilize Docker for containerization and local development.
• Participate in code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement.
