Job summary

PAR Technology Corporation is seeking a seasoned Node.js Engineer for remote work in the United States to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Typescript. You will work across teams on microservices, with exposure to PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and modern infrastructure such as Kubernetes and AWS.

The role emphasizes robust testing, performance, and collaboration with product managers and engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of backend development with distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong background in Node.js/TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Proficiency with GraphQL, TypeORM, and Nest.js.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, message brokers, APIs, and hardware integrations is a plus.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills across software and hardware domains.
• Ability to write clean code and automated tests.
• Ability to break down large requirements into small changes.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Experience in retail and/or fuel & convenience industries a plus.
• Ruby/Rails experience a big plus

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and APIs.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues with root-cause analysis and long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to system design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Continuously improve code quality, testing practices, and development processes.
