Job summary

PAR Technology Corporation in the United States is seeking a seasoned NodeJS Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and Typescript, with exposure to Ruby, PostgreSQL, and hardware integrations. The role emphasizes building robust microservices and working across product, design, and operations teams.

You will work with GraphQL, TypeORM, Nest.js, Kubernetes, and AWS, focusing on reliability, automation testing, and long-term maintainability.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in Node.js (Typescript) and database management (PostgreSQL).
• 8+ years of backend development with distributed systems and microservices.
• Proficiency with GraphQL, TypeORM, and Nest.js.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, message brokers (RMQ), APIs, and hardware integrations is a plus.
• Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills across software and hardware domains.
• Ability to self-organize and manage tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to write clean code and automated tests for high-quality system improvements.
• Ability to break down large requirements into small, self-contained changes.
• Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
• Experience in retail and/or fuel & convenience industries a plus.
• Ruby/Rails experience a big plus.
• Experience implementing or consuming GraphQL APIs a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services and API.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Investigate and resolve production issues and customer-reported bugs with root-cause analysis and maintainability.
• Contribute to system design discussions and architectural decisions.
• Continuously improve code quality, testing practices, and development processes.
