Wiley is seeking a senior data scientist to own domain-specific content modeling from eval sets through production pipelines. You will design NLP enrichment systems, balance traditional NLP with LLM-based methods, and ensure robust evaluations that guide production decisions.

You will work with editors, product managers, and engineers to translate stakeholder requirements into scalable modeling solutions, driving impact in a rapidly evolving market.

Qualifications

• Strong NLP background across modern (LLMs, transformers, embeddings, retrieval) and classical (NER, classification, sequence labeling) approaches.
• Clean Python usage; comfortable in notebooks and production repos; engineer can take over modeling output.
• Ability to compare approaches, defend choices with evals and cost estimates, and handle drift.

Responsabilités

• Design and build NLP enrichment pipelines that extract entities, classifications, claims, and summaries from scientific full-text at scale.
• Compare NLP approaches to extraction and enrichment against LLM-based approaches, selecting the right tool for each task with evaluation and cost tradeoffs.
• Own evaluation: create golden sets with SMEs, choose metrics, balance speed, quality, and cost.
• Contribute to agentic AI work: tool-using systems that reason over the enriched corpus and shape grounding of answers.
• Collaborate with editors, product managers, and engineers to translate stakeholder needs into concrete modeling work.
