Wiley in Hoboken, NJ is seeking a senior data scientist to own domain-specific content modeling from eval sets to production pipelines over millions of journal articles. You will choose between traditional NLP methods and LLM-based approaches, defending each decision with solid evaluations and cost considerations.

You will work with editors, product managers, and engineers in a hands-on role to ship models that impact real users in a fast-moving market.

Qualificações

• Strong NLP background across modern (LLMs, transformers, embeddings, retrieval) and classical (NER, classification, sequence labeling) approaches. You’ve built evaluations and learned from the results.
• Clean Python skills; comfortable in notebooks and production repositories; able to hand over modeling output smoothly.
• Ability to compare approaches, defend choices with evals and cost estimates, and respond to drift in performance.

Responsabilidades

• Design and build NLP pipelines to extract entities, classifications, claims, and summaries from scientific full-text at scale.
• Compare NLP approaches to extraction and enrichment against LLM-based methods, and defend choices with evaluation, cost, and tradeoffs.
• Own evaluation; build golden sets with SMEs and vendors, select metrics, and balance speed, quality, and cost.
• Contribute to agentic AI work: tool-using systems that ground and defend answers in enriched corpora.
• Collaborate with editors, product managers, and engineers; translate stakeholder feedback into modeling work.
