Job summary

Axle in Bethesda, MD seeks an experienced NIH grants manager to support the Office of Grants Management with workload processing, analysis, and portfolio support for competing applications and pending awards.

The role emphasizes timely, policy-compliant grants management, coordination with grantees and Federal staff, and collaboration across program and institute goals. Master’s degree and 12+ years of NIH grants experience are required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree is required.
• Minimum twelve (12) years of specialized NIH grants management experience.
• Experience using eRA IMPAC II to process competing grant applications and issue award packages is required.
• Experience reviewing applications for budget, compliance, and award readiness concerns is required.

Responsibilities

• Triage competing grant applications, set priorities, and ensure required documentation is uploaded to the official grant folder.
• Perform thorough review of applications noting bars to funding, foreign involvement, and summary statement concerns within timeframes.
• Conduct budget, human and animal subject code, and regulatory analyses of grant applications.
• Respond to inquiries from grantees and Federal staff with clear guidance and recommendations.
• Assist in supplements, funding actions, and portfolio analysis of pending awards.
