Job summary

Georgia Department of Public Health in Decatur, GA, seeks a Laboratory Supervisor for Newborn Screening to oversee testing operations, staff performance, and compliance with CLIA high-complexity standards. The role emphasizes QA/QC, equipment maintenance, and timely reporting within a federal grant funded program.

The ideal candidate will have a biology/microbiology/chemistry background, MT certification or supervisory experience with a plan to certify, and experience with LIMS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, chemistry or related fields; certification or eligibility required; must meet CLIA ’88 General Supervisor requirements.
• Must possess MT (ASCP) certification at hire OR two years supervisory experience and pass cert within eighteen months.

Responsibilities

• Serve as laboratory liaison in implementing electronic ordering and reporting.
• Oversee staff training and competency assessments; manage staff evaluations.
• Maintain SOPs, equipment maintenance, and inventory; ensure QA/QC and timely reporting.
• Coordinate proficiency testing and ensure results are timely submitted.
