Job description

CMK Resources is hiring a Network & Systems Engineer for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with a well-established organization in the distribution industry. This position is 100% on-site in Highland Park, MI.

We’re looking for a hands-on infrastructure generalist who is comfortable working across Windows systems, virtualization, networking, and security. This is a great fit for someone who has worked in a small to midsized IT environment, worn multiple hats, and enjoys taking ownership rather than operating within a narrow technical silo.

Responsibilities:

• You’ll join a small infrastructure team responsible for supporting and improving a multi-site technology environment. Responsibilities include:
• Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
• Support and maintain VMware and/or Hyper-V environments
• Configure and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless, and connectivity
• Support Microsoft 365 and related identity/infrastructure technologies
• Assist with security, certificate management, patching, backups, and infrastructure maintenance
• Troubleshoot issues across servers, networks, applications, and endpoints
• Participate in infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and modernization initiatives
• Research unfamiliar technologies and independently work through new technical challenges
• Collaborate with business teams, vendors, and other IT professionals
• Take ownership of issues and projects from troubleshooting through resolution

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on systems, network, or infrastructure experience
• Strong experience with Windows infrastructure and virtualization and/or broad hands-on networking experience
• Experience administering Active Directory and Windows Server
• VMware and/or Hyper-V experience
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals and the ability to troubleshoot across the infrastructure stack
• Experience working in an environment where you've had responsibility across multiple areas of IT
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated—you’re comfortable researching, learning, and figuring things out without waiting for step-by-step direction
• Professional communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams
• A collaborative, team-first attitude
• Additional Preferred Experience: Cisco, Palo Alto or other enterprise firewalls, Aruba, Microsoft 365/Exchange, certificate/PKI management, CrowdStrike, Okta, Extreme Networks Wi-Fi, ServiceNow, and multi-site environments.
