Job summary

Fastly’s Senior SRE – Networks role is to build, operate, and scale the global edge network with a strong focus on routing, BGP, and end-user performance. You’ll craft automation, develop monitoring tools, and mentor teammates in a highly collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates bring deep TCP/IP/BGP/Anycast/DNS expertise, Python automation, and experience with cloud providers (GCP/AWS/Azure), along with DevOps and observability tooling.

Qualifications

• Experience with global internet routing and network protocols.
• Automation and coding experience (Python or similar).
• Proficiency with large-scale network providers and cloud platforms.
• Ability to analyze traffic patterns with flow-based tools.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools (Grafana/Prometheus/Splunk).
• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Build, operate, and maintain Fastly’s global edge network footprint.
• Lead network incidents and traffic analysis, focusing on IP routing and BGP.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in reviews.
• Develop tools and automation to improve network operations.
• Monitor network performance with a focus on end-user experience.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape roadmaps and tooling.
• Mentor team members on global routing complexities.
