Job summary

Everforth ECS seeks a Network & Security Infrastructure Engineer to lead VMware ESXi re-architecture, VLAN segmentation, and firewall administration in Washington, DC with remote options. You will support Check Point and Palo Alto platforms while coordinating with security operations and enterprise networking teams.

The role emphasizes architecture-level thinking, documentation, and cross-team collaboration across cybersecurity, systems administration, and technology support partners.

Qualifications

• Hands-on with VMware ESXi re-architecture in an enterprise setting.
• Experience implementing VLAN segmentation for firewall enforcement and traffic isolation.
• Proficient in configuring virtual switches and distributed switches for security segmentation.
• Familiarity with NSX or similar SDN platforms for micro-segmentation and east-west traffic control.
• Ability to document virtual network architecture clearly, including decisions and configurations.
• Hands-on firewall experience with Check Point and Palo Alto platforms.
• Experience with firewall policy administration, updates, and validation.
• Strong knowledge of firewall rules and security operations in a large enterprise.
• Willingness to work outside normal hours for outages or maintenance.
• Experience with Cisco networking and Aruba wireless security in enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPNs, and network monitoring from a security perspective.

Responsibilities

• Lead a major re-architecture of the VMware ESXi environment to support firewall and VLAN segmentation.
• Provide dedicated firewall support to Architecture & Engineering and administer both internal and cloud-facing firewalls.
• Support security operations by monitoring and securing Cisco-based network infrastructure and Aruba wireless.
• Document architecture decisions, configurations, and future-state plans clearly.
• Collaborate across cybersecurity, systems administration, and technology support teams.
• Implement and test firewall architectures, upgrades, and feature rollouts.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation and comply with firewall policies.
