Job summary

County of Los Angeles seeks qualified candidates for an Emergency Senior Network Systems Administrator to address homelessness issues. Under an emergency order, hires may be up to 90 days with potential for permanent County employment.

The role includes evaluating performance during initial period and transitioning to a permanent appointment for top performers. Essential duties cover complex network/server administration, security design, VLANs, data center planning, and incident response.

Qualifications

• Option I requires a bachelor's degree and 3 years of LAN design/administration.
• Option II requires 1 year at Network Systems Administrator II level.
• Option III requires 4 years of LAN design/administration experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex network and server administration including configuring, installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading hardware and OS.
• Installs, configures, troubleshoots and optimizes network software and infrastructure.
• Designs and implements network security solutions including roles, groups, access rights and directories.
• Performs VLAN configuration to support IP-based services.
• Analyzes network usage and ensures applications are accessible and reliable.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field

One year of experience at Network Systems Administrator II

Four years of recent experience in LAN design, configuration, and administration
