Job summary

Blue Origin is hiring a Ground Network Engineer for the Quartz program to design, build, and maintain a global set of ground stations. You will lead network topology, security, and automation efforts to ensure reliable Earth-space communications.

Role emphasizes deep networking expertise, SRE practices, and collaboration across teams to deliver robust, scalable infrastructure supporting launch vehicle communications.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of experience architecting, developing and deploying scalable network infrastructure.
• Experience in multi-vendor device installation, configuration and monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS and routing protocols.
• Experience coding in Python or similar languages is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and document end-to-end network topology for multiple sites and a Network Operations Center.
• Define and implement WAN/LAN architecture with primary and backup circuits, switching and routing.
• Configure routers, switches, firewalls, and out-of-band management devices.
• Develop IP addressing plans and VLAN configurations.
• Establish and maintain network security architecture including firewalls and VPNs.
• Conduct system hardening, vulnerability scanning and remediation.
• Implement and manage network monitoring and observability platforms.
