Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Ground Network Engineer to design, build, and maintain a highly available network supporting the Quartz program. You will work on globally distributed ground stations, applying SRE practices to ensure reliability, security, and performance.

A strong background in TCP/IP, BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, and automation is required, with a focus on multi-vendor environments and security hardening. You will collaborate across teams within Blue National Security, contributing to a robust

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field.
• 8+ years of experience architecting and deploying scalable network infrastructure.
• Experience with multi-vendor device configurations.
• Deep understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, MPLS, and routing protocols.
• Experience coding in Python, Go, Rust, or C++.
• Strong written and verbal communication; team player.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.
• Ability to earn trust and contribute to an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

• Design and document end-to-end network topology for multiple sites and a NOC.
• Define WAN/LAN architecture with primary and backup circuits, routing and switching.
• Configure and manage routers, switches, firewalls, and out-of-band devices.
• Develop IP addressing plans and VLAN configurations.
• Establish network security architecture including VPNs and ACLs.
• Conduct system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and monitoring.
• Coordinate with providers for circuit installation and troubleshooting.
• Create comprehensive network documentation and diagrams.
• Develop automated health reporting and trend analysis.
• Lead Quartz cybersecurity compliance activities.
