Job summary

Referment in New York is seeking a Network Reliability Engineer to own and operate a production network spanning Linux/Windows, applications, networks and storage. The role blends on-call responsibility with infrastructure engineering to improve reliability and resilience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience operating and engineering production networks at scale (including on-call).
• Strong fundamentals in UDP, TCP/IP, BGP and OSPF.
• Working knowledge of PIM and IGMP multicast.
• Experience writing and maintaining automation, preferably in Python.
• Hands-on knowledge of firewall and security platforms.
• Experience with network observability, metrics, monitoring and diagnostics.
• Understanding of declarative configuration management.
• A technical degree or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and engineer production network infrastructure with a focus on stability, reliability and safe change.
• Diagnose unfamiliar, high-impact technical problems under pressure.
• Administer network, monitoring and security platforms across a cross-platform environment.
• Develop automation that removes manual work, improves efficiency and manages configuration as code.
• Make network health measurable through effective metrics, monitoring, diagnostics and tracing.
• Contribute to broader infrastructure engineering projects.
