Job summary

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is seeking a Senior Network Observability Engineer to own visibility into network health, performance, and availability across a large, multi-site environment.

You will design observability pipelines, build dashboards and alerts, and correlate telemetry into a unified operational picture for staff, patients, and research systems. Strong collaboration with stakeholders and vendors is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Four (4) years of IT experience in infrastructure operations and engineering environments.
• Experience in infrastructure design, systems analysis, and security management.
• Some experience with capacity procurement and vendor management.
• Hands-on with StatSeeker, ThousandEyes, SolarWinds or LogicMonitor preferred.
• Strong understanding of SNMP, NetFlow/IPFIX, streaming telemetry and syslog.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain observability pipelines across tools and platforms.
• Build dashboards and alerts surface SLA breaches and capacity trends.
• Correlate telemetry into a single operational picture across stacks.
• Integrate monitoring data into ServiceNow for auto-ticketing.
• Route and process telemetry events using Azure Event Grid.
• Develop synthetic monitoring and active testing for key paths.
• Lead root cause analysis on major incidents.
• Establish baselines and thresholds for network performance.
• Document observability standards and mentor team.
• Perform other duties to meet department goals.
