Job summary

Commure is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own the networking backbone of our multi-cloud and on-prem infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate end-to-end network layers used by all engineering teams, shaping the platform that supports medical workflows and claims processing.

You will drive architectural decisions, write critical code, and establish patterns others will follow across product teams, with a focus on security, scalability, and reliability in regulated healthcare

Qualifications

6+ years in cloud-native networking or infrastructure engineering
Deep fundamentals: TCP/UDP/IP, BGP, NAT, firewalls
Experience with public cloud networking (GCP, AWS, Azure)
Kubernetes and cloud-native networking (CNI, eBPF, Gateway API, Envoy, Istio)
Infrastructure-as-Code with Terraform or Pulumi
Experience designing VPN/site-to-site connectivity at scale
Network security: zero-trust, encryption in transit, segmentation
Network observability and performance troubleshooting (flow logs, latency)

Responsibilities

Own the multi-cloud network foundation: VPC design, routing, IPAM, IPv6, cross-region failover
Build hybrid and on‑prem connectivity: IPsec VPN, BGP, interconnects
Design the Kubernetes networking layer: CNI, Gateway API, Envoy, Istio
Run the edge: load balancing, DNS, WAF, DDoS mitigation, rate limiting
Secure the network by default: zero-trust, policy-as-code, HIPAA/SOC 2 alignment
Own network observability: flow logs, packet capture, OpenTelemetry integration
Treat the network as code: GitOps with Argo CD, pre-merge validation
Debug the hard problems: NAT, MTU, connection tracking, kernel networking
