Job summary

Commure is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to own the networking backbone of its multi-cloud and on-prem infrastructure. You will design and operate Kubernetes networking, edge services, and secure, observable networks that power healthcare workflows.

You will drive IaC, cloud-native patterns, and cross-team collaboration to deliver scalable, secure, and fast networking across GCP, AWS, and Azure.

Qualifications

6+ years of experience in cloud native networking or infrastructure engineering.
Deep expertise in TCP/UDP/ICMP, BGP, IPsec, NAT, firewalls, VLANs and traffic engineering.
Experience with public cloud networking (GCP, AWS, Azure).
Kubernetes and cloud-native networking (CNI, eBPF, Gateway API, Envoy, Istio).
Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
VPN/site-to-site connectivity at scale; BGP routing and traffic engineering.
Network security: firewalls, WAF, DDoS mitigation, segmentation, zero-trust.
Network observability and troubleshooting with flow logs, packet analysis, latency.

Responsibilities

Own the multi-cloud network foundation: VPC design, routing, IPv6, and multi-region failover.
Build hybrid and on-prem connectivity: IPsec VPN, BGP, Interconnect/Direct Connect.
Design the Kubernetes networking layer: CNI, Gateway API, Envoy, Istio, mTLS.
Run the edge: load balancing, DNS, WAF, DDoS mitigation, rate limiting.
Secure the network by default: policy-as-code, zero-trust, encryption in transit.
Network observability: flow logs, packet capture, OpenTelemetry integration.
Treat the network as code: GitOps, pre-merge validation, self-serve modules.
Debug networking challenges: NAT, MTU, connection tracking, kernel networking.
