Job summary

Commure in San Francisco is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Network Infrastructure team to own the networking backbone of our multi-cloud and on-prem infrastructure. You will design, build, and operate the end-to-end network layer across GCP, AWS, and Azure, driving IaC, security, and observability.

You will implement Kubernetes networking, service mesh, and zero-trust patterns, with a strong emphasis on performance, reliability, and HIPAA-compliant security.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in cloud native networking or infrastructure engineering.
• Deep expertise in TCP/UDP, BGP, NAT, firewalls, and network security.
• Experience with public cloud networking (GCP, AWS, Azure) and Kubernetes networking.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-cloud network foundation: VPC design, routing, transit hubs, IPAM, IPv6, and multi-region failover.
• Build hybrid and on-prem connectivity: IPsec VPN, BGP, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.
• Design the Kubernetes networking layer: CNI (eBPF), Gateway API, Envoy, Istio, and mTLS.
• Run the edge: load balancing, DNS, WAF, DDoS mitigation, rate limiting.
• Secure the network by default: zero-trust, firewalls, segmentation, encryption in transit.
• Own network observability: flow logs, packet capture, OpenTelemetry integration.
