Job summary

MITRE is seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer to join the Intelligence Network Services department. The role focuses on enterprise networking, security, automation, and infrastructure architecture across LAN/WAN, data center, and AI infrastructure contexts.

Responsibilities include design, implementation, testing, and modernization of secure, resilient networks, with hands-on work spanning architecture, validation, and operations, including government sponsor engagement.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years with a Master’s; or PhD with 5 years’ experience.
• Active Secret security clearance; eligibility for Top Secret clearance; U.S. Citizenship required.
• On-site work at least 4 days a week.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and engineering strategy for network and service management platforms.
• Configure, deploy, test, and validate enterprise network infrastructure and security services.
• Support data center network architecture, operations, and modernization initiatives.
• Design, implement, and enhance network monitoring and observability capabilities.
• Develop network modeling, simulation, and testing methodologies.
• Apply ITSM principles (e.g., ServiceNow) to improve service delivery.
• Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments and recommend mitigations.
• Communicate technical findings through reports and briefings.
