Job summary

CGS Federal seeks an experienced Network Engineer to evaluate, design, and maintain a large-scale wired and wireless network infrastructure for government projects. You will work with state and local personnel, vendors, and internal stakeholders to implement secure, tested network solutions.

Responsibilities include managing network infrastructure, monitoring, documentation, security patching, and hands-on support from 0800 to 1700 PST, Monday–Friday, plus training and knowledge transfer to NPS

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, Information systems or a related discipline.
• CWNA Certification or equivalent and BCNE Certification or equivalent are required.
• Experience with RF site survey tools such as Ekahau, RF Scanners and Wireshark.
• Strong knowledge of layer 2 switching and layer 3 routing protocols including VLANs, 802.1w, OSPF and VRRP.
• Strong knowledge of network security including 802.1x, MAC Authentication, ACLs, RADIUS and CA.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Windows Server, VMware and related systems.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage NPS network infrastructure.
• Improve infrastructure monitoring and reporting capabilities with network management software.
• Develop, maintain and deliver infrastructure documentation for the NPS network environment.
• Review best practices and provide recommendations for architecture, design, and operation.
• Administer Cloudpath onboarding and monitor wireless network health; apply security patches and updates.
• Assess the NPS network and propose improvements and optimizations.
• Define and conduct testing procedures for new infrastructure projects.
• Implement technology solutions within the NPS network environment.
• Provide design guidance on network solutions for NPS infrastructure projects.
• Offer informal training and knowledge transfer to NPS resources on best practices.
